The Financial Rebellion Way

Get Mad, Then Get Out of Debt

Debt is like a house guest overstaying their visit. Here’s how to show it out.

Your rebellion plan:

  1. Get angry. Seriously. That frustration is fuel! Use it!

  2. Then move on. Guilt is a dead end. Accept where you are, and focus only on what you can control from here.

  3. Set a deadline. “Someday I’ll be debt-free” is not a plan. Pick an exact date that feels doable yet uncomfortable. Now something can happen.

  4. Tell someone you trust. Shame loves silence. Tell a friend or family member what you’re doing. You’re not alone in this.

  5. Start the debt snowball. Pay minimums on everything. Then throw every spare dollar at the smallest balance first. Small wins build big momentum.

  6. Hustle like you mean it. Sell stuff on Facebook Marketplace. Pick up extra hours. Pinch those pennies. Get intense. This is temporary, but will pay off big time.

  7. Celebrate the wins. Every debt you kill deserves a moment. Acknowledge it, then keep going.

Big picture: You don’t have to be perfect to get out of debt, you just have to be relentless. One payment, one win, one step at a time. You can do it!

Real Money Moves

Each week, we feature a reader’s smartest and dumbest money moves. We’re all in this together; let’s learn from each other.

Emma, 24 - Flagstaff, Arizona

Best Money Move - Secret side hustle account

  • "Every Uber Eats delivery payment goes straight to a separate account I can't easily access."

  • "I don't even think of it as 'my money'—it's just this invisible fund growing in the background."

  • "Saved $8,000 in one year for my wedding without feeling like I sacrificed anything from my regular salary."

Worst Money Move - Store credit card trap

  • "I signed up for five store cards in one month because each gave 20% off my first purchase."

  • "Maxed them all out buying stuff I didn't need just to 'save' that initial discount."

  • "Ended up with $3,000 in debt at 27% interest. Those discounts cost me more in interest than I ever saved."

Side Hustle Differently

Each week, we focus on money-making opportunities for a side hustle that could potentially become a full-time venture. No MLM schemes, no “passive income” lies, just real strategies for stacking cash outside your 9-5.

Turn Your Parking Spot into a Paycheck

If you live near a stadium, airport, or downtown area and have a driveway you’re not using, you’re sitting on money. Literally.

Your parking profit playbook:

  • List your spot on apps like Neighbor or Pavemint in about 10 minutes

  • Charge $15-$40 per day depending on your location and local events

  • Do nothing else. The app handles payment and scheduling

Big picture: No inventory. No customers to deal with. No skills required. Just a slab of concrete and a smartphone. While everyone else is grinding, your driveway is clocking in.

  • You Own the Place: As a member you're an owner, not a transaction.

  • David vs. Goliath Energy: Big traditional banks primarily exist to serve shareholders while credit unions exist to serve their members.
